Why You Should Not Eat During a Manicure

If you don’t want to eat food that may be exposed to dust from someone else’s nails, I strongly recommend not bringing food into the manicure or pedicure area and keeping any drinks properly closed.

The reason is simple: dust from nails, skin, and fabrics settles on all surfaces — tables, walls, floors, chairs, and mirrors — everywhere, even if you cannot see it.

As a specialist, I use professional vacuum systems and perform both dry and wet cleaning after every client. Despite this, I still go home with dust on my clothes, in my hair, and even on my eyelashes. I often have to rinse my nose and eyes after work because of the fine particles created during services.

A manicure or pedicure room is not a place for eating. It is a treatment area, not a cafeteria.

All drinks should be in closed bottles or cups with lids and should not be placed on the work table during your service. These hygiene standards exist for your health and safety.

Dust from nail services contains bacteria and microscopic particles. For this reason, it is best to eat before your appointment in designated areas and then come to your manicure or pedicure service ready to relax and enjoy the experience safely.
